Wild Swans by Jung Chang
Good God, I don’t even remember the books I read last year! But the one that really stuck out was Chang’s autobiography that covers three female generations in China and the impact of the Communist Party.
I bought it for a $1 out of obligation and it kicked off my interest in learning more about my own family history. This was really one of those books that I bought with the belief that I should have read it, yet fully expecting to put it down after a few pages because I would find the whole ‘pity the poor immigrant’ theme tiring. I’m still so stunned at how much I loved it and just how much it’s changed me.
